1987 range rover oil pressure light came on, loss of power, stalled out. all of this happened within an hour of gas fill up. added a quart of oil to top off, changed the spark plugs & fuel filter. primed the oil pump behind the filter housing. truck starts and runs but has lifter tapping as if no oil pressure to the top end. the oil light is off. any ideas?

You might have damaged a bearing with the loss of oil pressure.

This is from another post but you might find it helpful

As a side or it might be helpful. You can test for big/small end play by winding the crank by hand past TDC on each piston (so the rings resist the piston downwards movement and tend to drag the piston back up) and then with a non piston damaging rod (wooden spoon handle works nicely) try pushing steadily but firmly on top of the piston through the spark plug hole. If you have a damaged bearing you should be able to feel the excessive movement, you could get all scientific and measure it with a DTI but i have found you can normally feel it, especially in relation to the other pistons. If unsure just wind it back a bit and back down a bit and have another feel.

You might not feel it if it is very minor, but i have found if it's loud enough to knock, it's enough to feel the movement.
