I have a 2001 Vogue.

I managed to get a full history and vin check from a dealer on another forum, and it lists a recall regarding a supposed Warn winch, that she had fitted. :geek:

There seems to be little evidence of their being a winch on her, i'm assuming it was removed at some point, is there anything i can look for to give me a clue? :)

the Recall is regarding iffy winch solenoids or some such..

Is there any info regarding fitment and whether you can actually get the kits today.

Also is there anyone who has one fitted from factory :)

Thankyou..

Factory "kits" have not been available since the P38 was discontinued. Use of the winch cover required Warn to redesign the actual winch used on the P38 "kits". Wiring for the redesigned winch was all the same as the standard Warn winch of the same output. Properly removed you would have no clue because mounts for the winch bed would be removed and the relay pack and remote connector would have been removed. Everything to do with the "kit" was bolt on. Chances are your P38 never had a factory installed winch. They were a Dealer only option.

BTW: "the Recall is regarding iffy winch solenoids or some such.." tells us absolutely nothing. If you have the recall there why not supply us the actual text and VIN range?

Maybe your RR had one fitted as an extra ticked box on the order form...

The biggest telltale to me (if it hasn't been changed) would be the front bumper as you need to cut a couple of slots in that for the winch mount plates to protrude through.

I have a factory winch tray to fit at some point so have had a look at the instructions... my issue is as RRTH mentions about the winch itself, I've found a few that will fit in the tray but are too high (mostly the free-spool clutch release) to fit under the factory winch tray cover.. I must be one of the luckiest P38 owners, as I found a brand new factory winch tray cover - in box - out in Singapore of all places when I was out there working last year. Picked it up for £50GBP - which was about a third of the last price any of the UK parts places had the part number listed for!!

Sorry got slightly off track there :p

If the recall was about the winch/solenoids, then I can only imagine they were having either premature failure, or issues with the original winch setup when it was installed. If you don't have the winch, the doubtful the solenoid pack will still be there either, so most likely won't be an issue for you recall wise..
