Hi! My '07 Range Rover Sport is now in 49,000 miles. Do I need to purchase extended warranty? If yes, do you guys have any suggestions which extended warranty should I purchase? And where? I live in San Jose (Bay Area). Thank you for your inputs, I really appreciate it.

I'm curious as well. My dealer was offering me continental warranty inc. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Think of it like insurance. Only optional. These companies have to make a living too don't they? Chances are you'll pay more for the insurance than you would if you paid for repairs yourself. :)

I've always declined these until the past 5 years or so ...but these cars have gotten so expensive to fix - I guess the real question is how long do you want to own it?

Most of my friends who have ext. warr on a variety of vehicles have had them pay off in a big way: One friend who owns a Boxster recently had a new motor shipped over from Germany free of charge (well, after the deductible).

I let the ext. warranty go on my Cayenne and of course, 2 months later I need an $1800 part that would have been (was) covered. :crybaby2:

I think from this point forward, I'll probably only own (newer) vehicles with warranties.

Before you compare prices, insist on getting a copy of the contract with the specific "What is not Covered" list. The brochure always make these contracts sound wonderful, but among pictures of happy motoring people they have disclaimers such as "We cover almost everything, except items listed in the contract, some of which include..." That "Some" usually means there's a lot more stuff that's not covered listed in really small type within the contract. Also, find out how much their "No deductibles, but daily limits apply" limits are on stuff like rental cars and towing service, and how much they will reimburse a shop for labor. Not all extended warranty companies will cheerfully cough up $130+/hr that most authorized dealers and even some indy shops charge for labor these days - at least around here in California - and if they have a low cap you may be stuck paying the balance.

Thanks for the responses. I will probably use my car for the next 2 years/+- 25000 miles. Should I still buy the warranty? What is the most common problem of this car? Thank you.
