Hi all,

I want my 4.0 V8 to sound a bit more like a .. V8 ;) I know that standard it is very restricted, a quiet cruiser.. But I would like some V8 rumble for as cheap as possible.. I've did some research on here and Google, and for me there are 2 options:

- Replace the center silencer by a straight through tube (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-P38-V8-2-5TD-94-02-CENTRE-EXHAUST-SILENCER-REPLACEMENT-PIPE/142730922153?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=52945&meid=75e40004f72b439fa95868cf8a404353&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=3&mehot=pp&sd=262695200940&itm=142730922153&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851)

- Remove the double rear resonators

First option will be too loud I think, I still want to cruise on highway's without going deaf. I've found that option 2 is the most popular one. Not annoying but a little more V8 rumble..

But how to achieve this? I have the double Y exhaust and the 2 rear resonators are part of the exhaust pipe, you cannot just take them off (without cutting). So is cutting the rear resonators off the only option? Because then I need to find someone who can weld some new ends on it and I cannot go back after that..

So I was thinking maybe buying a used Y double exhaust and cut that one up? That way I can always swap back if I don't like it.

Who says you can't go back? Of course you can. Any decent welding shop will be able to remove rear resonators, replace with piping and use your current tips. Stick your resonators in your garage. If the sound is not to your liking just take them back to the welder and have them reinstalled.

We still don't know where you are located or what year P38 you have.

Ive heard both, Center box removed, or rear box’s, I can’t say there’s much difference between them, just that v8 burble, it’s a personal preference, I love the v8 sound, but also like the quietness in the cabin, you’d be surprised how much of the rumble is behind you, people know it’s a v8. Ask your neighbours,,

It's a 1999 and I live in Belgium ;) I will try to find a decent welder and go from there, thanks!

No need to purchase through eBay. Any muffler/welding shop will have standard steel piping in stock that they will use for removing the resonators. It will be included in the pricing.
