Excessive seat wear on driver side?

1799 Views 10 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Canuck RRS
Anyone have excessive wear on the leather on the driver side seat right where you get in and out? Like above the seat memory buttons? The car is a 2008 S/C and for only 18k miles the seat looks very rough. On my 2006 the seats held up much better. Could this be a warranty issue? FYI I do have the white/cream interior. TIA.

Maybe your ingress/egress technique has changed or perhaps you've had a few too many McDouble Burgers lately??

HA! I am 6'2 280lb and see what I would consider to be normal on my 06'. I think that color is going to show more. It would never hurt to ask. Now if you look like me, well there will be a few "fatass" comments after you walk out of the dealership.

I've noticed a Dukes of Hazzard ingress tends to be hard on both the seat and paint around the window. I've stopped doing it.

Goosey, you have WAY too much time on your wings.
Man, I had Dukes of Hazzard sheets. :shhh:
To heck with the sheets, I just had a shiver with the image of Goosey in Daisy Dukes! :?
The leather on that side of my seat's cushion (the left bolster over the memory seat buttons) is not showing substantial signs of wear in my car, however the bolster part squeaks like an old spring mattress when compressed. :( I think it's friction between the plastic frame around the memory buttons and the lower fabric under the cushion.

Ok, I'm done for today.
I'm starting to see some wear as well but this could be minor in comparison. Mine has 12k miles. And, I'm 5'11' 180 lbs with a 33 waist, just to protect myself.

Could you take a picture of the wear and tear cause I'm curious to see if mine is equivalent?
Glad someone posted this. I have the Alpaca beige interior and noticed this problem about a year ago on my 06. I've already brought my truck in and notified the dealer. I think all they told me was that they would monitor it....whatever that means.

In the meantime I'm cleaning it and moisturizing every couple weeks with Lexol wipes. The crappy part is that I sometimes wear dark jeans which have rubbed on to the leather making the cracks in the leather more noticeable.

My dealer rents an old crappy S or X type car for me to use when my RRS is in the shop and most of the jags with light colored interior have this problem as well.
