I have a 2015 Rover Sport and want to direct wire my Escort Max 360.

has anyone done this DIY have some tips where to get power?

I don't want to get power from the mirror if possible, I mount my detector lower on the windshield. I have a fuse tap and have done these on many cars but cannot seem to find a good place to tap in for power on this Rover, can't even find the fuse box inside (it is behind the glove compartment? If so, how do you get the glove box off?)

I have attempted to search for a thread but not having much luck.

Thanks!

If you have the heated windshield with solar attenuating glass a radar detector mounted on the windshield may not work very well. I had horrible range on my Valentine 1. I ended up getting a built in unit with front and rear sensors.

Most folks use map/dome light because one is full power one is switched. Yes there is a fuse box behind the glove box, however you do not get the glove box "off". It drops down. See your owners manual in the fuse section for access.

thanks for the reply.

I have the heated windshield, but I am not sure if I have the solar attenuating glass. How do I tell?

Now that you say it, I will have to notice if the radar detector is working! I know the GPS seems to work but will pay more attention to if the radar is working before I mess around with direct wire.

I am scared to think how much a new front windshield will be to replace! I live in Colorado, and with Winter, cracks in windshields are a yearly thing at least!

Heated windscreen is the wire embedded in the actual glass, it does not impede radar detectors. Solar attenuating "glass" has nothing to do with the glass. It is a film much like window tinting applied to the interior surface of the windscreen. It impacts some radar detectors but not others.

My Valentine sits to the right of the mirror in the "open" space that JLR left with heated, Tinted, and insulated glass with zero issues...however if you have Stop / Start in the truck you need to add a voltage regulator so when the truck restarts it does not cause the unit to restart also...
