Dennis is offering his o-rings based on work - disassembling the valve block, measuring and locating rings, and assembling a kit and writing up instructions. And he is not asking a lot of money (were he Land Rover the kit would be $50).

I can understand your wish to support local suppliers (though I doubt $2 worths of o-rings will keep them in business if they are on the edge) but you have to consider that we have to support our suppliers here as well - or we'd be back to searching forums (which you quite obviously have not done either) and calling supplier after supplier to see who has a needed generic part. Either go through the work yourself or at least spend some real time searching the site. No pain, no gain.

Asking Dennis to hand you that info rather than laying out the little bit of cash for at least one kit is 'cheeky' in Brit English. Id say you've got balls - and and not as a compliment.

I dunno, without ever having been to ZA, I'd put forth that Americans are also extremely friendly, helpful, courteous, kind, etc (sounds like the Boy Scout pledge) and I try to be as well. And I'm certainly not going to get into a discussion on which people are more helpful, better, nicer etc. Suffice to say that in my experience each country has its own idiosyncrasies and we're all more alike than most of us are willing to admit.

I'd also put forth that being helpful friendly, courteous, etc. also requires not exploiting another's help. This goes especially for the help of someone who makes his livelihood providing this sort of help. In effect, buying a pack of o-rings from Dennis is returning something for the help he's given. Maybe we Americans are more tactful? ( )

It sort of goes along the same lines as the 'search is your friend' thing tossed around here quite often. Although at times I think this is absolutely overused and a quick nudge in the right direction would have been much more helpful for all, I can easily comprehend the animosity felt by those who contribute regularly to a forum towards those who jump in, don't even bother to try to search for info, ask questions that have been discussed a million times and run off never to be heard from again. Moochers.

And, search is your friend. I know this info was discussed a while back.

BTW, I'm also not going to get into a discussion on who's more passionate. I will say I own 3 RR's at present...
