Hello,

I have a P38. In the normal height suspension drops every 30 seconds, then climbs back up. The compressor is therefore almost all the time ON and I worry that it'll die. Currently I drive into the lower position.

I assume that the problem is in the front sensors for height. Am I right?

Plan A: I try to perform calibration on a little different height for normal ride.
Plan B: If I'm not going to buy new sensors.

Problem: I have a cable from ODB II to RS232. I installed the EAS Unlock Software. I can't connect. I am constantly getting RX signal 80 and 26, which would mean that the link does not work. I've already checked:
- The cable and the connection pins,
- I changed the ECU suspension unit (I have two of them)
- My colleague also recommended to change comma and decimal point in Windows language settings.
- Switched left and right front sensor -> after this it’s even worse. The compressor is always ON in every height of the vehicle.

Still doesn't work...

Have any idea?

Even if I got o plan B, I will have to buy new sensors and I will have the same problem. Or calibration is not needed?

The issue is most likely in your RSW settings. There are countless threads in the DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT forum below for troubleshooting the freeware.

Hey,

thank you both for quick replay.

RRToadHall - what is RSW?

pwood999 - Maybe you are right, but before I switched the left and right front sensors, the compressor didn't run all the time if I had it in low position. Only in normal and off-road. If I have a leak it should run all the time or?

I think it's getting worse and worse. After I posted, I decided to switch the front sensors to original positions, so I will at least drive in low position. BUT, after changing, I turned on the engine and I got a message: EAS fault. The compressor was running liek crazy, but I couldn't change the height. The vehicle has now sited on rubber bumps. I unplugged the battery (restart) and now I can not start the vehicle!!!
The starter won't turn. And its not an alarm problem... no error is displayed. I am getting crazy. What could be wrong?

The EAS problems & Engine not starting are completely separate issues.

Ignore the EAS until you get the car started. If you have been playing with battery connections, then maybe you now have bad connections, or more likely have popped a fuse, or got the BECM into a strange state.

The EAS issues sound like leaking air-bags. When the car is lower, the bags often seal any cracks as the rubber folds over. At higher settings more of the bag is exposed, and the air leaks from any cracks in the bags. This would cause the issues the original post. The pump "running like crazy" is probably because it's trying to fill the system and cannot deliver enough air. Worn airbags causing regular leaks will definitely kill the pump !!

The EAS software may well not be able to connect to the rig. Been there and done that, as have many others.
In my case it as the wiring behind the driver side (LHD) kick panel had corroded quite badly. Did away with the plug, and not had a problem since.
