Hi All
I am writing a buying guide on Range Rover Classic for Classic Cars magazine, and need your help please to find a suitable two-door for photography. Classic Cars' style for buying guides is to photograph one car, in a studio against a white background, so we need a good clean original-spec two-door in a bright colour that will photograph well and be a good representative of the marque.
Classic Cars will reimburse petrol expenses and will supply photos and copies of the mag when it's published; the owner needs to be able to take their car to any one of the three studios they use - one is at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, one is at Norwich and one is at Derby. Weekdays are best, though the Norwich and Derby studios might be able to do a Saturday if you can't manage a weekday. The shoot normally takes around 3-4 hours, a bit longer if the weather is grotty so a lot of cleaning is required! It needs to be done before Christmas, but the sooner the better really as the weather will only get worse!
If you have a suitable car and are up for it, or know someone who can do it, please contact me here.
Once we've got the photo car sorted out, I'll probably be back begging for advice on who are the best specialists, etc - thanks in advance for your help!

85 views now but still no volunteers? Come on, Classic owners, please don't be shy! If you know someone with a suitable car, please put them in touch with me...
Thanks

Duh. Thanks, guys - I hadn't realised this was a non-UK forum!
I will try the Range Rover section in landyzone.co.uk. Enjoy your Range Rovers over there, and look out for the article in Thoroughbred & Classic Cars magazine in the new year - I think it's going to be in the April issue...
Cheers

It's not a non-UK forum, it's more of a worldwide one. Most people on here are either in the US, UK or Oz with the odd ones scattered around the rest of the world. I suspect half the problem is the time of year. Most early Classics will have either been turned into offroaders years ago or are restored showpieces that are wrapped up inside at this time of year. The number of 2 door cars that are used regularly is probably very low.

Thanks, Gilbert
Well, I'm certainly struggling to find those UK owners with restored showpieces who are prepared to take them for a run to the photo studio! My post on range-rover-2-two-door-forum has topped 16 views in a week and no responses (more views than the previous three posts and none of the last 10 posts have had any response!) so that forum seems slightly under-attended. Landyzone has so far produced a couple of sarcastic and juvenile responses and nothing else (something I've never had before in several years of sourcing cars for shoots via forums). All rather disappointing! Where else can I go? I asked the Range Rover Register and all they could suggest was the first forum mentioned. This one so far wins for sensible, mature responses, even if it's not found me a car yet! I will be back in the UK on Wednesday so will ring round the Range Rover specialists for suggestions, if I've had no volunteers by then - but if there's another largely-UK forum you can suggest where I might get some response, please let me know!
Thanks, Malcolm

After Landyzone the other UK forum is Landrovernet (http://forum.landrovernet.com/forum.php) but even that is very quiet compared with this one. How about contacting some of the specialist parts suppliers such as Rimmer Bros, Island4x4, Famous Four, Paddock Spares, etc. they may either have a demonstrator of their own or know of an owner who could help.

Malcolm, did you try this UK forum http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/index.php

Very active forum with what appear to be very friendly and knowledgeable members and sponsors. They will probably be able to point you in the right direction or connect you with the right person. Good Luck!

Good morning
I am not being funny,I cannot help you at the moment. I am in the throws of doing a 2door up at the moment would like to help in the future,it could be in the middle of next year.
Sorry you are having trouble but they are very thin on the ground as they say. The cost to purchase one are out of this world.
Hope you do have luck finding one

Malcolm,

I may be able to help ...but you may want an older car. I have a 2 door CSK (1990) which has just been put back on the road after 10 years and would be happy for it to be used on the photo shoot. If you are interested drop me a PM

Thanks very much, guys, really helpful responses - very much appreciated!
I think we might be fixed now, via classic car specialist Graeme Hunt in Kensington who has just finished restoring an early car, I'm keeping fingers crossed at the moment that he can match a date with one of our photographers (none of whom are particularly close to central London, unfortunately...).
Some of you will be hearing from me anyway, as we need a couple more owner interviews for the piece!
