Front Driveshaft Issue

good evening~

does anyone know where I might be able to purchase just the flange that attaches to the front differential - apparently this flange is usually connected to the driveshaft via universal joint. Until I get the replacement flange or order a whole new drive shaft does anyone know if it is safe to drive the vehicle without the front driveshaft or will it put too much stress on the rear driveshaft?

Why do you have to just replace the flange? Did you have a u-joint failure?
I do not think it is good to drive without a front shaft. I think I read it on here that it can ruin the VC unit in the transfer case, but I may be wrong.
Do a quick search, there was a thread not too long ago about that.

@ Nick: Found the post thank you has some good info. The shaft fell due to u-joint failure and it damaged the flange, but the shaft itself is in good condition.

@Scotty we are in Discovery Bay, CA (East Bay area)- how quick do you think we could get one for a 1999 4.0 SE? Oh it's the front drive shaft in case I forgot to mention. We just bought it so apparently the previous owners didn't bother greasing. Oh well
