I had the same problem. Ended up drilling the female nut out and filling the hole with f/glass resin. Then drilled a new hole completely through the bracket, dremelled a flat bit at the back and fitted a T-nut. Strong as an ox and looks ok.
I didn't take any pics when I was doing it, and you can only see the difference when you unbolt the bracket from the roof. I don't particularly want to take them out. With guard in place they look completely stock; with guard off the difference isn't really noticeable unless you're looking for it.rrtoadhall said:Can you post up a pic of that setup?
