So I misplaced my main key the other day and went to use the spare for the first time and it doesn't work. Fortunately the truck was unlocked but I got the "not recognized" message so had to place it along the steering column to start it. But the key will not perform any other function including locking the vehicle. I have since found my main key but am wondering what I need to do to get the second key to function. i received both keys from the dealer in July so assuming it's not a battery issue? Thanks,

If you can place it by the column and it starts, chances are, it's the battery.

Yes, called the dealer this am and that's what he suggested.....works. Didn't think it was battery since only 7 months old and have never used the key.....guessing maybe an old battery was put in originally? Thanks for reply.
