I’m looking into buying the uniden r7 along with the escort dash cam. My old V1 doesn’t work that well and I’m seeing conflicting stories on a position that works well

I have the heated windshield but I don’t believe I have the solar glass. Is it the solar windshield that causes problems or the heated windshield?

One of my other vehicles has a heated windshield as well and I have a hidden V1 installed along with the V1 being integrated into the rear view mirror. Pretty cool setup but not looking to go that in depth on the l405. Also even with it being hidden/installed in the rear view the range still isn’t the greatest.

That little cut out section doesn’t work at all for any radar as it’s so small. Would appreciate any info

Best overall place I found for it.

I had a V1 Gen2 mounted there as well and it performed great other than some mild confusion about radar when you passed by it, but as long as it's catching it from up ahead or behind you should be good.

Planning on mounting my V1 Gen2 in the same spot in my L405.

I have a Uniden hardwired as well as a Blackview Dashcam.
Had a professional do the installations. No issues with either. The radar has saved me many times.

So I tried using that place as you have shown but the uniden is bulky / larger than a V1 and/or that space is much smaller on the l405 than l494 because it did not work.

I got it to fit on the other side of the mirror. It’s picking up door signals from stores much better than the v1 was. Haven’t had much driving time to do any real tests.

I have the heated windshield. I’m not sure about the solar glass. If the front windshield looks purple then I don’t have it as it’s clear.
