Disco 2 headlights swap?

Yes i know, you'll say WTF he wants to do with Disco 2 headlights.

I always said keep it stock or swap the entire vehicle for all those headlights conversions, but ...my 2002 OEM headlights have lost all their black effect inside after 2 years only.

I don't want to pay again for a thing like that.

I'm considering swapping for newer headlights and when i looked at the Disco 2 one, it looks like their proportions are much more interesting thant all those L322 headlights.

Has it been tried at least?

If you are serious about swapping headlights consider the Rangerover Sport lights. The size looks much better.
You could just take your lights apart and re-paint the black in there. There's a write up on it somewhere around here...maybe the main site.
Paint : did it once. Result : one headlight won, and the other lost.
You need a heatgun to dismantle those and sometimes, the glass breaks
I'm actually more curious how the Disco headlights would turn out. I loathe the RRS set up, but the 03-04 disco might be neat...if it fits.
Any photoshop master on this board? 8)

A very very quick and poor attempt, gives the general idea though.

Find me some big high resolution pictures of your rig and a disco 2 head on that I can use and I'll be happy to combine the two properly so it looks a bit more realistic. I'm somewhat lacking in pictures of disco 2's

Thanks.
Looks very good so far. I'll check those lights in situ to see what can be done

I actually like it. Are the dimensions similar between ours and Discos? Also, the 03-04 D2 headlights are pretty expensive, as they pretty much drop in to the 99-02's, and lots of people do the swap.

I got them for sale
Lights and grill
anyone intested?
$500 for them.
I actually said WTF. But the photo does show the potential of such a idea, I like it.
Just my 2 cents, replacing all 6 light bulbs with the Osram silvers stars make a big difference.
The Gems engine mod on alty is a must, run a thick cable from alt to battery direct and three things happen.
1 Brighter lights
2 You automatically double up your starter cable, in effect the starter turns alot quicker
3 Shorter cable = less voltage drop to battery keeping it in its ideal charge state

I already have HID Bixenons inside those. That lights the darkness like daytime
That's my 2nd favourite mod on my rig, after the Gen3 and bilstein combo 8)
How about this...

Nice but as you've done, the bonnet needs attention.
I think that's the detail that ruins the plan.
If you don't do it, that won't look good.
If you do it, that will look like a Disco2
Arg, i add an offer on a set of 2006+ xenons for L322 for almost half the price of one P38 OEM headlight.

It may end like this if i take my time do it neatly 8)

Go for it. If you have the required skill ther is no reason that it won't turn out good.
You do lose the wash/wipe with all those conversions.

Wouldn't mind the bi-xenins though!
RR3 sports lights will fit and look better as I've had a pair to compare, bonnet corners dont match so I dumped the idea.

I have to disagree with you there. The RRS lights fit worse - which is why you see all these conversions done with FFRR 06-09 lights, too. And I've had both in hand to compare as well. The hood (bonnet) does need reworking which wouldn't have been a problem for me as I already have a bent bonnet corner due to a close encounter with a tree :p but the amount of metal I would have had to butcher away from the headlight/rad support panel put me off.

I had the idea with these headlights too, Flo. The problem here is really the upper inside corner. Silly thoughts during long, boring conference calls lead to thinking about butchering a pair of these lights, butchering a pair of P38 lights, making new plastic lenses...
