I noticed the other day there was oil coming from under my car, I traced it back to the breather pipe where it vents under the engine cover.

Any idea why this might be, I did a search on here and could only find the following:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30392&p=237411&hilit=diff+oil+differential+breather#p237411

The diff recall was done back in August so has the LR garage done something wrong?

Do i check the adapter by pulling the breather pipe off?

What else would cause oil to travel up the pipe?

Strange that it just started for no apparent reason. The fluid level hadn’t been adjusted at all? You would expect the breather to vent oil if the differential had been over-filled.

Coincidentally I notice that the front differential breather Technical Service Bulletin has recently been re-issued. It now states :

“A front differential breather pipe is now available as a serviceable part. It is no longer necessary to replace the complete front differential for issues related to the breather pipe”

Thanks Phil, I've got it booked in to Stratstone so hopefully the repair will be free as the Diff work should have a years guarantee.

I'll have a check of the breather pipe vent piece direction before I go.
