Hi chaps,

Looking to refit a new Genuine LR sump engine oil Sump gasket to stop the thing leaking.

its genuine LR and my intention is to use the genuine BMW pan gasket sealant.

My question is (because the instructions are not clear and google has returned nothing) does the gasket seal go on both side of the new gasket, kinda like a sandwich? Or just one side? If so which one...?

Any tips and suggestions welcome - thanks.

I personally would apply sealant to both sides of the gasket, then refit the sump, tighten up the sump bolts partially and leave it for a bit, say 30 mins.
Then go back and torque up the bolts diagonally in the right order and with the right setting. I think there is a diagram in Rave.
If you don't do that correctly it will distort the sump pan and may leak.
Also when you are under the car check the crankshaft oil seals front and rear.
