Howdy peeps,
So the new RRS is finally here, and I was super excited, until I realized that to get the same options as my 2010 HSE Lux, I'll have to shell out about 20K more that I did back then. I want the body color side sills, which means I will have to bump up to the autobiography... in the end I will likely be close to 95K USD, quite the upmarket move LR has maneuvered. Anyway, there are alot of improvements, and I'm looking forward to a lighter body, faster takeoff, new car smell, etc... we are fortunate to even be able to buy such a vehicle, so enough complaining.

My quandary is with color, I have Bali Blue now, which I love because it is unique, I know the color has alot of haters, and that is fine... but there isn't anything like it for 2014... Im personally not a fan of Chile or Firenze, and the blue option is a little cornflower sedate for me, there are four million black Rovers in my area however most are Santorini, so I would like something a bit more unique. On the build tool on the website, Mariana Black looks to have a bluish cast, and there is a maronish black, and a purplish black as well, which I am thinking is kinda cool, especially with the ceramic 22" wheels, but I havent seen these colors in person.

Anyone who has seen these, care to compare/contrast the different blacks? Or since I am going to end up spending so much on the sport, should I just spring for the extra 10K on the big RR SC??? Haha

If you just like the body color side sills, you don't have to buy AB, you can get a V8 SC and let the dealer do the painting, around $500. I can't say anything about color, that's mainly personal preference. Besides, 10K will not be sufficient for a FFRR SC, at least not for the next half or whole year. They are charging extra for FFRR SC.

I had a similar dilemma regarding the sport AB and the full size. I ended up choosing the RR SC for several reasons but your right it is only about $10k more fully loaded as long as your dealer is not marking it up. Mine isn't. The wait is the same for the RRS AB and the RR SC so no big deal.

Since you already have a sport I say go for the full size. I can't help you on the color thing. I like lighter colors on my exteriors. Good luck either way!

I saw the Mariana Black recently on a full size at the dealership - it isn't really a black, more of a midnight blue. Can look black under low light, but in direct sunlight its a deep dark blue. Given you like the Bali, the Mariana is unique and you will probably like it. I had seen the paint chip sample in the dealerrship, but it doesn't really do it justice - need to see a full vehicle with angles and finish. I opted for santorini, because i wanted straight black, but the mariana is a good looking option. Silly that you have to pay an extra $1800 for it, but in the grand scheme of things worth it if you love the color. I got the RSS SC for the same calculus - only $10k difference once you load it up and didn't want to risk the new V6 without being able to test drive it

After reading many of the threads on here regarding the process and timing for placing an order, just a few questions. Has your dealer required a $1000 deposit to place your order? As many of you have mentioned, the August models received by dealers will be demos and the "first run blacks, silvers, grays, etc" rather than the individually ordered models. Has anybody been required to place a deposit and has anyone received any updates from their dealer on when they may receive their RRS ?
