Hi Everyone

I have seen in RAVE how to remove the dash top (take end caps off/vents etc, then remove centre speaker grill)

Now - I did all this but got to the point where I was going to remove the centre speaker grill to get to the last two torx bolts.

How does this come off / out? I really don't want to damage it and I tried giving it a small bit of leverage at one corner to no avail. Is it just pushed in? Clips? How best to remove?

Thanks

I would like to know about this too, I would like to service my instrument cluster (a few dead pixels, common BMW issue) but since it isn't a readability problem for now, I've not attempted it. Whenever I get to it I'll be doing it myself because it makes me vomit to think about how much the dealer would charge for this relatively simple procedure (don't assume I'm just complaining about RR, all mechanics charge a market rate for their services; rightly so as most people are incapable or unwilling).

Just use a small pry-bar say 6mm. Start at one corner and gently prise out. The grill will flex slightly but will straighten out easily.

Great information.

Wondering though - how does one "service the instrument cluster"??? Do you mean replace it? I have some dead pixels also and would love to remedy this with a "service".

Thanks!

Note, when and if I ever attempt this, I'll be taking my own pictures to document the entire process end to end. I expect the M5 cluster in the PDF is virtually the same if not identical to the RR cluster, but if it looks too different, I may abort mission and order a new part. It could be months or years before readability is an issue though, so if anyone here has a computer/electrical engineering background like me and your display is already illegible, feel free to give it a go! The worst that can happen is you end up needing a new cluster (which is what the dealer would do anyway).

You could start by filling out your profile and signature with details of your location and vehicle.

Year by year differences could lead to confusion and you may have a friendly specialist round the corner.

Just had my pixels replaced by a Firm called Revtronic in Bradford West yorkshire UK
