Hi,
previous car 2000 4.6 vogue, when on cruise control applied engine braking etc. downhill, so actually kept to set speed.
new car is 2001 HSE 4.0. Cruise Control maintains speed on flat or uphill fine but downhill goes to over-run, so cars speed keeps increasing.
Anyone tell me
1. Is this a dif. in spec etc. was 4.6 non-std, or is 4.0 faulty.
2. If fault any idea's wots broken ?

all input gratefully received - Thanks

Check the cruise inner cable is free to move within outer sheath. My cruise wasn't slowing properly - tuned out the cable was binding. New cable restored correct function.

Thanks, assume from reply that 4.0 HSE should therefore maintain set speed (+or-) downhill.
Car in for work soon so will ask garage to check cable.

Depends on how steep the hill is - if it would still gain speed even if you lifted your foot off accelerator completely then will also gain speed with cruise.
