Cruise control inhibited

The issue that most commonly causes the cruise control to not work is a faulty spiral cassette in the steering column. It's the thing that connects the buttons on the wheel to the guts of the vehicle and still allows the wheel to turn. It's a problem that can get progressively worse and eventually affects the other buttons (i.e. volume, phone, etc) on the wheel as well. It's like an infection. :)

I just recently had mine replaced at 130,000 miles. Cost of the repair with labor was $510.

FWIW, this is a common problem/solution that might be worth adding to the sticky section. Maybe it's there and I missed it?
