Hello to all, just an info post for the older Classics. Ive tried for months to find the correct lube OIL for transfer case in my '85 (...230 type). Rover calls for many but I located an authorized Mobil distributor locally as Mobil Mobilube HD 90 is recommended. The direct replacement from Mobil is Teresstic 220. Had to buy a 5 gallon pail for $150 (US) to get it, but its the right oil. If you need more info, PM me.

Not that I am a expert, but I am running 80-90 (Amsoil) synthetic gear lube in my LT230. Gear case=gear lube::: chain case=ATF is my understanding.

I started to do some digging and I found that one could run Redline MTL in both. I used to run MTL in VW watercooled transaxles years ago and it always improved shifting in them. When I was in the store, the bottle said that it was suitable for transmissions recommending ATF in them. Then again, it cost me a bunch, but I always feel comfortable running redline.
