As a follow on to my overheating/coolant loss woes....I now know that the aluminium pipe I have to replace is a seperate part from the cylinder head casting.Although it is not available to buy from stockists (ludicrous).
But who knows how the hose neck is fixed into the casting?..Is it just a tight tolerance fit, or do BMW use some sort of adhesive too?...after all, its under pressure..and must not leak !...No one seems to know, although this part comes in a bag to be attached when a new cylinder head is purchased from certain stockists. I have sent an enquiry to them, but as yet no reply.

Anyone know here?...or have replaced this bit themselves?, surely I am not the only person who has suffered this problem. Help !!.

Just to update, I had a nice reply from the guys at "Famous Four" (Land rover parts specialists) who have informed me the pipe is indeed a tolerance fit.
A second hand pipe has been fitted this afternoon, new hose on order...so time will tell if it all works without leaks now.
