My newly acquired P38d is running on coils at the moment and very comfortably it is too.
Is it worth returning to the EAS system as originally fitted, will the ride be improved that much for the work involved ?
Yes i do know that the EAS can be a pain !:)

I have had it both ways, I prefer EAS. PLEASE TRY SEARCH in the future.

On coils it rides like a Discovery, on EAS it rides like a Range Rover. If you've never experienced the difference you might be satisfied with it as it is, but once you've tried EAS you'll never want to go back.
