Hi guys.
Roy here from Malaysia. Found this rare legendary muscle near home.
Embarked on a restoration project. These cars arent common here.
Was abandoned for 10 years. Dead paint & dirty shappy interior.
Its a 93' Full Spec Vogue LSE.

Wow I love that color and what is the color code for that blue one. You did a great job.
That blue one is custom paint. I can ask the owner though. He may have the formula.
Mine is mosswood green. I didint expect it to polish up like that though.

She cleaned up real nice!
Yes, she did. Weeks. Spent almost 1 day just for 2 panels. Sanding & polishing.
Interior was another hell of a work.

I have couple of question regarding this model as i know nothing much about it prior to this.
Been playing with Disco 1 & Disco 2. But i did do extensive research on many sites and forums about the RRC.
This site has lots of good info. Thanks.

This car was an original 4.2 V8 but the owner threw in a 300Tdi. I'm asking if he can still find the original engine. I would overhaul it with upgraded bit like ignition & cams. If not, i'm thinking of putting in a Disco 2 V8 4.0 Bosch engine. Anyone here knows if it'll work?

The air suspension takes about 5 minutes of running the engine to raise the left side as the left drops after 5 hours. This is if the car is used daily. If its parked for a week, it will drop on all 4 corners & need to run the engine for a good 15 minutes to raise it up.
Somehow, the rear sits lower than the front. I dont know if this is due to a leak or because of the lighter 300Tdi Engine.

Some questions:
1) Will a 4.0 D2 V8 work in this car? I have the complete engine, tranny & wiring.

2) If it will affect the car's value & cause problems (i'm thinking not as its a better, newer engine), then i have only the 3.9 V8 from a D1 as an option. 4.2 engines are super rare here.

3) If using the 3.9, i see quite a bit of upgrades available over the net. Cams, ignition etc. But not for the 4.2. Is this true?

4) The car drops on the left after about 5 hours. I'm going to refurbish the entire Air Suspension. Question:

i) I narrowed down a few sites with the repair kit. But all arent complete. Most dont have the metal collets for the valve block. Any sites you guys recommend?

ii) I want to change all 4 air springs, air lines, spring clips & absorbers. I've narrowed down to island4x4 as the most reasonable. Is that okay?

iii) Running air springs, i should stick to standard absorbers, am i correct? Uprated Bilstein & Aftermarket that Rimmerbros carry will be too harsh is what i understand after reading, correct? island4x4 provides Boge standard, is it okay?

iv) Can i replace just the bellows/airbags or need to replace the entire set? Does the top and bottom of the air spring get worn?

v) I need the repair kit for the compressor, dryer (if any), valve block. I see a company X8R, that uses Viton seals, anyone tried them?

5) Can the EAS be adjusted, calibrated for different heights rather than the preset settings? If i set it on high or low, will it remain that way or will self adjust soon after?

6) Having issues with the key fob. I can get to learn mode as per this site, but after learn mode, i press the alarm button and nothing happens. My interior lights doesnt come on with the doors, only comes on if i use the dash switch. Could the faulty courtesy lamp relay cause the key fob to not work? Key central locking works. Yes, its the single button fob.

7) I found another method on another forum that states the chip from the remote needs to be programmed via the control unit under the rear right seat. Is this true?

8) I also contacted Arnotts in hope they have the additional long travel air springs for the classic but they say they dont. I also read that there are people who used P38 air springs but there are also people who say you cant. So rather confused here.

Right now, i'm thinking of getting the bellows, air spring clips & 4 absorbers from island4x4.
The repair kit for compressor & valve block, looks like only partsrover.com has it all but is expensive. X8R hasnt got the collets.

Many thanks fellas.
Please chime in & help me make this car better & others can read & make theirs better too. I believe these are common problems.

Roy.

For parts, you try your local eBay, try AtlanticBritish.com, try BPUTAH.com, mm4x4.com, and roversnorth.com

When it comes to your tires...what brand do you have on them and what tire size are you using?

Thanks. Will try those sites.
Tires i havent changes. Its still the 12 year old rubbers. Yokohama Geolander. 245's.
I'm thinking Michellins, Toyo or Cooper 265's.

WOW! What a difference!

I thought it was Beluga Black at first with all that oxidization and dirt but that Moodwood Green looks great, such beautiful deep color, I hope you put a good wax on it to keep it nice.

This would look great with chrome bumpers...
