Is there anyone on here who really knows their stuff about Chev Small-blocks? More accurately, the water pumps on them?

There are 5 ports on a Chev small-block waterpump:
- 1 intake port (from the radiator)
- 2 supply ports (one to each side of the 'V')
- 2 other ports (that on my engine are blocked off)

Of these last two ports, does anyone which/either/both, is on the suction or the pressure side of the pump? I can't work out which side these ports are on, just by looking at the casting - either port could be connected to either side. :( If it comes to it, I can remove the blanking plugs on these two ports to have a look inside, but I really don't want to do that at the moment, as it will create a big mess and it's something I've then got to seal again.

Any insight appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Dennis, thanks for that, but that pump appears to be quite different. My engine is from the 80's (- just been fully rebuilt)! :)

My pump looks something more like this:

of the 5 ports I was talking of:
- the intake is far right;
- the two supply pipes are facing downwards (far left and next to intake);
- the other two holes visible, are the ones I'm talking about and I don't know which side (- pressure vs suction) they connect to.

Anyone got any more ideas?
