Hi everybody,

Last week I had an over heating because of a leak in the expansion tank. I bayed a new one and try to replace it. The nut and what I was expecting to be screws where stuck together because by rust. I decided to break the screw.

For everybody reading this Thread, it was a very bad idea !!!!! You have to destroy the nuts, because the "screws" are in reality studs who are welded to the body of the car.

For me it is too late , I'll replace the studs by screws.

I want to know in whitch material the expansion tank older is been made. To know if, after having made the holes for the screws, I need to protect it from corrosion.

If someone can help me, it would be great !

Best regards from Europe !

Hi All,

First of thank you a lot CJD for your reply.

Is it possible to find a exploded plan of the body or something similar to know exactly witch part is in witch material and how they are fixed together ?

There is a lot of rust everywhere (so I think a lot of not very good quality steal parts in the motor compartment). I planed to make some offroad, so a refreshment of all this stuff should be made.
