I was under the impression that Castrol Edge Professional OE 5W20 engine oil would meet the WSS M2C925 spec that is required by JLR. However, I don't that specific reference on the back of the bottles (see below). They only list M2C945 and M2C930.

has the spec changed or is there a newer spec that is equivalent?

Thanks!

Just spoke to Castrol on the phone and confirmed that the Castrol Edge Professional OE 5W20 meets the JLR spec, even though it is not listed on the back of the bottle.

Thanks for the alternative. I see a couple of people also using M1 on older models. My vehicle is still under warranty so I want to stick with the specs for now.

As it is, the oil is $60 and the filter is $23.... a big savings over the dealer's $250 and 1/2d without the car.

Where did you find the oil? Was it ebay, from the dealer, local store, etc?

My local LR dealer claims to use the castrol professional but my black stone sample showed a lot of sodium. Don't know why. I looked up the castrol website and the castrol extended performance have close to even better numbers than the professional and guaranteed up to 20k miles.
