CarPlay not functional

I’ve had intermittent CarPlay failures since delivery in March, but now the system fails to connect every time, even after restarts and reconnect attempts. Has anyone experienced the same? I’ve reset my phone, and I’ve unpaired and re-paired Bluetooth several times. Same with Wi-Fi. I’m running iOS 16.6 — this may be the problem.

I have no problems whatsoever with iOS 16.5. What version software is loaded for your Pivi?
I was running the beta too and it broke my wireless CarPlay in my SE. I could still use wired CarPlay but not wireless. However, my wife’s iPhone (without the beta) could pair and connect to wireless CarPlay no problem. After reading the forums online, it seems to be an issue with the beta and CarPlay. I removed the beta and uninstalled the profiles but still have issues. Figured it would resolve itself when I get a new iPhone in the Fall.
Make sure your phone charged more than 60% otherwise it may not connect to CarPlay.
No issues here but o have periodically had issues in other cars in close proximity to Apple software updates. CarPlay is buggy at times and normally not an issue with the car unless the connection is unstable for another reason (Bluetooth / WiFi hardware issue)

I don't use CarPlay, but family members do. Is the 60% thing a phone enforced thing or a car enforced thing? My brother in his BMW has had CarPlay and the phone's battery has died mid navigation.

I’ve never had an issue with CarPlay not working with a low phone battery in the BMW so this must be a car enforced problem.

I haven’t seen an issue in any car I’ve owned or rented (50-100 with CarPlay) that is battery related limit with low charge.

I have iOS 16.4.1(a) and have experienced the dreaded CarPlay issue for the the last 3 weeks. Very annoying and random drop offs. No rhyme or reason when it won't connect. For the past few days it has been stable for some reason. My iPhone is scheduled for the iOS 16.5 update and I'm unsure whether to let this one install if it makes the issue worse.

It's definitely related to these new security updates. I have noticed that if I'm connected to certain wifi connections before I enter the car (let's say public wifi) it acts funky.

If anyone else can definitively trace which iOS is safe for us - let us know. Also, wonder if iOS 16.5 is safe?

Thanks

Install 16.5 asap. It patches dozen plus security vulnerabilities, a couple of which have been actively exploited

I never had this issue in my other cars ( BMW, MB and Audi), but it happened in RR when I first drove this car after the purchase. It was long drive (almost 900 miles) and my CarPlay suddenly
stopped connecting. My phone was not on the charger. I called to my sales guy and the first thing he said to make sure the phone is on charge, because if capacity is less than about 60% CarPlay will not connect. It was fixed as soon as I put the phone on the charger. So I assume, as Maggie said, it's a car enforced thing.

That's interesting, and arguably problematic given that the Rover inductive charger really over heats the phone to a hard to touch heat level, thus stopping the charging, which would allow the battery level to fall below..
Thank you all for such great feedback and commentary on this issue. For whatever reason, after two days of failing to connect, everything works fine as of this morning. And this with a battery at around 25%!

Not sure what to make of it all, except that there are very clearly some sensitive compatibility/interoperability issues between Pivi and iOS.

Hope that the next Pivi software update fixes these bugs and brings proximity lock/unlock!
I have never had any issue connecting as it relates to battery charge. I seen to live under 30% most of the time. Though, even when below 10% it stays connected. That said, I was already connected. I'm not sure if being below a certain percentage or if the phone has gone in low power mode and trying to initially connect could be an issue to not.

As far as dropping the CarPlay connection altogether, I have only encountered the a handful of times since I took delivery in January. I havent been able to figure out if it's the car or the phone that causes the hiccup. Getting reconnected in that moment if tough and doesn't always work, but getting out of the car and the next time I get in seems to correct itself.
