Can I fit a 4.0 to replace stuffed 4.6?

Hi all,
I sent my 4.6hse for diagnostics this week to see if they could get it started. The guys told me there was a mechanical problem with the motor and that it was locked up. Before I do lots of investigation, I do have a 4.0 parts car. Regardless of power etc, can I essentially plug and play if I swop the engines and gearboxes over?

yes is the quick reply, though easier if it's the same type ie gems to gems bosch to bosch because of the sensors.
Yes, the 4.0 and 4.6 are interchangeable. You don't even need to swop the gearbox with it.
It is a good idea to use diagnostics to set the engine ECU to the correct displacement and reset the adaptive values.

You can put the 4.6 crank in the 4.0, put the 4.0 pistons on the 4.6 rods, and you have a 4.6 with a higher CR
