Hi, I'm new here and thought maybe someone could help me out with some advice. I have a 2012 Range Rover HSE Lux and at the dealership they mentioned I need a complete brake job. Sensors haven't tripped yet but the rotors are getting thin. They quoted me around $1400 for a complete set, Midas took a look and came back at $1200. I found on rockauto and brakeperfromance.com complete brake kits for around $400 for both front and rear pads and rotors.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with buying these and hiring a local mechanic to install, or does it usually wind up being a mess trying something like this?

Personally I never use cheap brake parts as they are a safety item and you never really know how the braking power compares with genuine. You can pick up the real deal, for front and rear, for under $700 from Atlantic British.
