Bosch Injection Pump for RR P38, 1997, 2.5DSE, auto gear, code needed for replacement

I'm new to the forum.
I have a RR P38, 1997, Vogue, with a 2.5 DSE engine.
Injection pump (Bosch) doesn't work properly and I took it to Bosch Service for repairs. They quoted me 650 eur to fix, so I'm looking for a replacement part.
The car is fitted with a Automatic gearbox. Seems that the pumps from Manual gearbox 2.5DSE won't match with my pump.
Can you recommend how I can get the code for the pump and do you know if pump is different for automatic gearbox model than for the manual gearbox models ?
Also, is the pump different for the 2.5 DSE than for the 4.0 or 4.6 petrol models?
I tried to get the pump from scrap yards but if the part is on the shelf how do I know if the part will fit?
How do I know the exact model of the injection pump that I need (part no) and where to source it from as to get exact part?
To continue digging in junkyards?
What if they give me something that is from a different model. I gave them the VIN of the car, but just to make sure, how can I check o the part, equivalence charts, that is the right one for my car?

The car is kept in Dublin, IRE. But I need to fix it. I found some Injection pump in a Junk yard in Chicago, based on VIN but not sure what kind of pump I need and how I'm gonna be sure to source a pump for a DSE model, automatic gearbox in USA and to send it in Ireland.
Was the 2.5 DSE Model of RR P38 ever in USA? This junkyard in Chicago is saying that checking the VIN no of my RR, they have the injection pump.
Is this possible?
I tried to source it from a junk yard in Europe but they need the Pump model, which I don't know where to find it.
Can you advise me?
Thank,
Valentin

Hi Tony,
Your assumption is correct. The car is in Ireland, in Dublin, but couldn't get the pump there. I'm in USA for a while now and I'm trying to source the pump either in USA or in UK/Ireland. Any advice where to look for it online?
Thanks, V

The diesel and petrol pumps are not interchangable.A new pump will cost more than the Bosch quote.A used pump will have to be fitted and timed correctly as this is critical and is set to 1/1000 inch.(Special tools required).I think your pump part no should end in 994

Re: Bosch Injection Pump for RR P38, 1997, 2.5DSE, auto gear, code needed for replace

From my investigation, there are 3 codes that comes up when referring to the 2.5 DSE :
0460 4064994, 0460 406995, 0460 406993. Now, all these codes are given by those that are selling the injection pump for the 2.5DSE.
Which is the one for the 2.5DSE? I know there is 2.5DT version. Would it make a whole difference if is for 2.5DT or 2.5DSE or if is manual or automatic gearbox?
One seller on Ebay, has code 0460406993 on his pump, but when is giving more info is saying 0460406994. All 3 sellers are saying that their 3 codes mentiones are matching both versions of P38 Diesel , the one for 113 KW and 100KW.
If my code on my faulty pomp is ending 994 , can I buy only 994 or can I get 993 or 995?
Thanks

Bosh Service will not point you in the right direction, you should try a more independent approach, like take it to the local diesel expert or BMW engine "specialist".

Bosh Service just want´s to rip your money and replace expensive parts, many times all it needs it´s an O ring job/timming/etc..

If you tell us the symptoms, just "Injection pump (Bosch) doesn't work properly" will not give many clues..

My DSE automatic has the pump no. 0 460 406 994. Also last 3 digits 995 will do but 993 is doubtful as the same is fitted to low powered BMW's 325's & 525's diesels.
Further, if u are buying on ebay take care.
BTW why do u suspect the pump?
