Hello all, I have an LR3, but my mother has a 2006 Range Rover. I'm doing some intel research on her Range Rover.

Is anyone here aware of the "autobiography" edition having existence in the US prior to the 2009 model?

Reason being: Her Rage was in an accident, and somehow was totaled. Insurance came back and said there was no "autobiography edition" made until 2009, and that was according to the local dealer. However, the back of the car has an "autobiography" badge, and inside the car it has sill covers inside the door that say "autobiography", and a badge on the dash that reads "autobiography" as well. The wheel caps are black and the other badges on the vehicle are black.

According to this site: http://www.rangerovers.net/modelspecs/L322/2006.html under the topic of special editions, it notes "In the UK the Autobiography version continued as usual."

We purchased the car used, but do you think it's possible that someone really went to such great lengths to make it look like a special edition? What do you all think? Any information would be a great help.

The badges and bits are easily available on eBay. It would be no different than the folks here that change their grills and badging to "supercharged" even though most folks can easily identify that they are not.

The seats look like the regular HSE seats, non lux-pack. So it's probably not an Autobiography. Also, the rims are the standard 19" rims.

**seems like just a bunch of SC/Autobiography bits stuck on**

Yep, looks like and HSE with standard interior and S/C grill and side vents. More than likely not an autobiography

Assume/hope she is ok after this accident....anyone else curious...did airbags go off? That is enough damage for an insurance co to "total"?
I have no clue on the legitimacy of the autobiography edition...but assure you that this is the best site to track it down....good luck.

That looks like it should polish out, I'v MOT'd worse. But seriously I hope no one was hurt and 19' rims and non Lux interior says not Autobiography.

Great. Thanks for all collaborative knowledge. I think it's certainly safe to say it's not at this point.

The mom was driving on some snow/ice and a car came into her lane of traffic while entering a highway. She swerved to miss avoid being hit and somehow managed to crash into a dirt hill next to the entrance ramp, although it does look like she hit a cow. She was driving just under 30 and the airbags never deployed. She busted her lip up pretty good, but overall she's fine. Sucks about the car, I loved joy-riding in it with the Harmon 7-speaker system. Geico did somehow write the car off as a total. I think they said the suspension system was a little messed up from the wreck too. Oh well. Maybe I can convince her to get a legit special edition, Westminster I'm thinking.

Anyways, you all have a great Range forum here. I hope I'll be back on here for more than a day or two some day...

Cheers.

take the vin down to the stealership and have them run it, every manufacturer has a database that when the vin is plugged in it spits out a list of every option that was put on a particular vehicle. its free. that should tell you.

you bought it used, anyone on here have autobiography here that can comment, does it have a special owners manual??
