I have a P38, and the AC is is driving me around the bend. The "Cheque Book" keeps appearing,... sometimes when the AC isn't even on! When I turn on the AC, it runs fine (ice cold) for a few minutes and then the fans shut down, however if I run it with the fans on full blast it will run ice cold forever, but as soon as I turn the fans down it will shut them off, I then have to turn the ignition off and then back on to make the book disappear, and the whole thing starts over again. I have noticed that the lower I make the fan speed the quicker it shuts off. Over the last couple of years, I have changed the blender motors, changed the CPU, checked the coolent level, changed the polen filters and all of the relays and fuses and it still happens.
Anybody out there have any ideas.

Have you pulled the error code to see what the issue actually is? Have you inspected your fuse box for corrosion, warping or burning?

Just as a pointer, the AC is by default always 'ON'.
You can only switch it off.

- Airco Pressure Switch?
- R134 gas under min. level?
- Blend motors, not calibrated?

Some of the reasons why you can have the 'book-symbol' in your display... Just drive to the dealer and read the fault: that is really the best solution.... Or go to a airco-specialist, perhaps he can help too?

Bye,
G.
