hello all,
i've got a p38 in chawton white. it's obviously several years old. the grill needs painting and the black needs forever blacking. do i go with reblacking everything that's black or do i paint the grill chawton white (with stock green emblem remaining...or even with black and white badge) and forever black everything else? strictly looking for opinions. anyone have a photo of a p38 with grill painted body-color? i've seen it on a few classics and it looked nice. saw someone with that done on the highway the other day on a 4.6 and i'm not going to lie, it looked very nicely (professionally) done. no other eye candy...just a mint p38 with body-colored grill. nothing wrong with re-stocking the stock either though. everything else on my truck is stock including hurricane 18's and would remain that way. thoughts?

I have a body coloured grille and bumpers, i personally like them but its not to every ones liking, i think the white grille will look very nice. Heres a photo of my car, i have also got very fine chrome stripes around it.[attachment=0:39ek0548]rangi 2.jpg[/attachment:39ek0548]

The body shop accidently painted my grill body colour after the wife pranged my pride and joy. It looked so bad that I rejected it and made them get another grill. Looked like something straight out of the 80,s.

mine is in oxford blue inc the grill and i think it looks fine --- however i do think it rather depends on the colour. I had one in red (sorry can't remember which) and i hated the red grill so put a standard part on, thought this looked far better.

nice. i could go either way with the blue. seems like doing the grill the body color favors the darker colors b/c it's less stark a contrast with remaining black portions. i'm still on the fence as to doing it with white. i'd only be doing the grill and reblacking everything else if i went that route.

thanks tim and rican. tim, i'm perusing as we speak. rican, the chrome looks sharp on yours and that's always a possibility. i'm pretty conservative and like your look alot. i'm always worried about going over the top with chrome but yours looks wonderful. where'd you scare up the chrome grill accents?

one more. i like the white on black. i'd only be painting the grille itself which would be behind the brush bar. then i'd just forever black the black portions. i got sick of the wings on the brush bar so i ripped them off.

i think you're right tim. thanks for your input. in all liklihood i'll reblack it all and put forty coats of wax down as the white is looking a little washed out. that should sex her up a bit. i just happened to be next to a woman in the same color 38 as me on the road the other day which was identical in every way but her grill was white and it caught my eye.
