I recently bought a 2000 4.6 HSE with the factory navigation option (older unit with two buttons and a knob). The truck didn't come with any discs, so I bought a new set from Navteq. I dropped a map CD in the drive and the green light came on indicating "CD IN". However, the display still indicated that there was no CD in the drive.

I had almost resolved myself to the fact that the system was non-functional. Last night I noticed that the CD had ejected itself. I pushed it back in and the system instantly had full functionality. Everything seemed to be working fine, with the exception of that fact that I had inserted the wrong CD (Illinois is split between CD 3 and CD 5).

I ejected CD 3 and inserted CD 5. I am now back to where I started. I inserted and ejected the CD a dozen times, but cannot get it to read. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

No, I haven't, but that is a GREAT idea! I will give that a shot this evening.

Thank you!

I took the unit apart and manually cleaned the lens.

The good news: The system is working again! :thumb:

The bad news: You guys weren't kidding when you said that this Navigation system leaves somthing to be desired.
