as i've said before the stock exhaust is annoyingly intact and not in need of replacement. :x therefore i lack an excuse to go stainless the wife will know is not bull****. goal is going stainless with understated tone. anyone got anything?

I'm very satisfied with my RPI Engineering stainless steel exhaust. Sounds deep but not loud.
I like it since it changes of tone with RPM, high RPMs and it sounds like a decatt TVR (but doesn't accelerate as fast  ).
Low RPMs and it sounds like a american V8 on a Muscle Car with factory exhaust.

That may cost you a lot to import it but that thing has been engineered for the P38

Try going on Google and type in mag exhaust on a range rover, there's a few sites that have the sound recorded and they sound NIIICE. Sounds like a Mach 1 Mustang under water. Thats what I'm putting on mine. Also go to Jegs and you can listen to the different series mufflers. I've decided on the 50 series myself. Sounds tuff. 8)

i want throaty but understated and not over the top. the sound is secondary to the longevity to me so it's got to be stainless, but i've heard some with a very nice tone and am looking forward to that too. i'm going to take your advice and listen on that site. that's what led me to ask about magnaflow. i was able to hear it on their site and they sounded really nice. powerful but not "i need attention and wasn't hugged enough" is my M.O.

i run Magnaflow exhaust (part # 14326) and i love it. just like you said "powerful but not "i need attention and wasn't hugged enough"". i suggest removing the rear muffler (resinator) completly and using stright pipe there and intalling the Magnaflow where the center muffler is  that way you see nothing from the back :thumb: and of course, finish is off with a nice crome Mangaflow tip...just like i did   Muffler-$130, Tip-$40, install-$100...money well spent. you notice a BIG sound difference right away  the only problem is the gas guage might go down a little faster becuase you will be heavy on the pedel for the first couple of weeks, at least...it sounds that good :D i did not notice any better fuel milage (running about 16.5L/100km), but if i cared about fuel milage........i would have got a Kia
