I have my 4.6 engine out due to porous block problems and plan to replace the pressed steel sump with the later (Thor) alloy sump. I have searched the forum and other peoples experience only refers to needing longer bolts for the sump to block fastening. I have offered up the sump to the block and all looks well although I also need longer studs on the base of the timing gear cover to allow for the thicker alloy sump.

Does anybody know what I have to do the bell housing to be able to bolt the alloy sump to it where it replaces the original 'convertor drive plate access cover'. (I have the regular ZF auto box).

Thanks

When I fitted the Thor Sump to my 98 HSE I did not need to change the studs as the original ones were just long enough.

With regards to the Transmission Bell Housing that is reasonably easy all you need is a drill, a set of 3/8 UNC Taps and some bolts. If you want to PM me a phone number it would be far easier to explain over the phone rather than explain in writing.

Cheers
