I have a 2005 Range Rover and need to replace my front left air strut. The part is on the way, but the dealer I take it to quoted $250+ tax to install. That sounds very high to me, I would have expected about 1-1.5 hours of labor. Has anybody done this install themselves? If so what is the difficulty level and how long did it take? I don't know what my dealer charges hourly (maybe $75/hr) but $250 to install a strut just sounds ridiculous. Thanks for any help.

You'd be surprised. Last time I checked, here in L.A. dealers were charging around $120 to 150/hr. Aren't there any reputable independent Land Rover shops near you? All you'll be giving up is some free donuts and coffee in the waiting room, but most independents here are just as knowledgeable as a dealer in taking care of your car, more approachable, faster and way more honest. Unless it's a warranty job or a recall.
