Hi All

I have the fault codes shown below. Based on the codes and what I have read in the RAVE manual I thought the problem could be related to the EVAP system. Either one or both valves not functioning correctly.

I think the RCL is terrific, but I realise at this time that I do not yet have enough knowledge of the results to be able to fully diagnose my RR's faults, hence this request :)

This fault code in particular ...

P1000 = CONTROL UNIT DEFECTIVE (ROM) DRIVE CYCLE A, WHICH HAS OCCURED ONCE
(SIGNAL INVALID, THE FAULT IS CURRENTLY PRESENT, THIS FAULT CAUSES MIL LAMP ACTIVATION, THE FAULT HAS BEEN DETERMINED AS PERSISTENTLY PRESENT).

...does that mean the ECM has a faulty ROM (Read-Only-Memory). The fault will clear and is not persistent in that it returns immediately, however after some driving (no time frame has been noted) it does return.

A local RR service person told me that similar fault codes, read from my RR on his testbook, are indicative of catalytic converter problems. This does not seem the case as far as the RAVE manual is concerned, however I expect that RR experience is more valuable than the manual. Any advice on these codes?

I am beginning to suspect that the problem may be related to the MAF and that its inability to provide the ECM with correct data is influencing the ECM, causing it to control the engine in such a manner as to cause the readings below. This in turn is causing some misdirection in the fault finding process. However there are no MAF fault codes (or O2 sensor codes) in the ECM.

Thanks in advance :) ....

THE MOTRONIC FAULT CODE MEMORY CONTAINS CODES FOR THE FOLLOWING CURRENT FAULTS -:
