Hi guys,

First post on here, I have an 04 plate Vogue which I'm looking to add AUX-in capability to.

From what I've read, mainly on this thread: http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/6-range-rover-mark-iii-l322/13378-aux-input-oem-03-radio.html if I were to upgrade my audio module from the current BM54 L322 module, pictured here:

To say, something like this pictured here from eBay:

And then purchased a genuine BMW cable with the part number 65120153502, and connected that up as per the instructions in that post, I would be able to plug my iPhone into the newly added AUX in port, select that on my standard RR system somewhere as an option, then play music from my device that way. Do I need to do a MK4 sat nav upgrade as well at this point or is that all that's required to get up and running.

Also whilst fiddling in the back of the RR today I saw a plug/socket with nothing in it, like this:

What is it and why doesn't it have something already plugged into it?

Kind regards

Can anyone help with this? I think I've understood it right but before I spend loads of money I want to make sure it will work.

I think it is easier and much cheaper if you buy a device that can play mp3 usb or bluetooth audio for example Dension device. You connect it instead of your CD Charger. On Dension website search for BMW 5 series e39 and that should support 04 RR.

There is a really simple makeshift fix one can do. I ordered a cable, a switch with an aux in, and the proper plug, and you splice the plug into your cd player connection. That way, your cd player works like normal, until you flip the switch, and then whatever you have plugged into your aux cable will play like normal. For this to work, you obviously have to have cd player selected on your infotainment.
