Had mine go out last month as well. Vents were pumping out hotter-than-hot air. Required a compressor replacement. Tech told me not to feel bad given age, mileage, and the heat wave. FWIW, total cost (parts/labor/R134a recharge) for the repair was $1331.91.

Wow that's a lot of money I don't think I can afford $1,000 should I take it to a air conditioning guy or should I just take it to my regular Landrover mechanic

First try refilling the freon yourself. Really easy to do. Google it: lots of YouTubes that will walk you through it. Then, if that doesn't work, an AC guy.

2006 sport not blowing cold air
You do have it turned on :?: at the on/off switch. Also do you have it switched to Econ? If you have it switched on (the off light is not lit) and Econ is switched off (Econ light is not lit) then yes you need to look at the gas (leaks) and functionality of the compressor. if these Ok - then under dash issues such as blend motors or temp switches etc.
