Question - Are they the same air filter from BMW M62 ENGINE? If so, do you have the part number?

Land Rover pasadena is asking 63 bucks plus tax.

Thanks. How do you like the K&N? Any issues? I had KN before but not sure if I want to run them on the RR.just make sure you don't saturate it with too much oil.

Well I didnt put any oil on it, it didnt come with any so I dont know if it needs it(someone correct me if I'm wrong). Only reason I put K&N in there is because most guys on here say its a good idea.

I think K&N is ok as long as you don't put the oil on it. But its the oil that allows the filter to be cleaned/re oil and replace. So whats the point.

If the filter is over oiled and that oil gets sucked in . .. . well you see where I am going with this?

Go with OEM.

You don't run a K&N filter without oil. You may as well just remove the filter and use nothing. :naughty: It's the oil that catches the particulate matter (filters the air).
But on the bright side, I don't know of any K&N filters that don't come pre-oiled. :thumb:

Just as Pokerplayer said, don't use too much oil, or it'll coat your MAF sensor, & you'll have to clean that off.
If you're not comfortable cleaning & oiling your filter, either have a shop do it (if they will) or use a disposable one.

P.S. - The range Rover filter is nothing like the BMW filter.

Yea I remember the K&N I got for my last car was pre-oiled but this one wasnt and I thought maybe its not supposed to be. I guess I should oil it now.

The BMW part number for the range Rover air filter is 13 717 501 239. That's the BMW PN marked on my OEM filter.
It may be cheaper through BMW than LR.
You ca also get the MANN replacement from Autopartswarehouse.com for $47.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I ended up picking it from the stealer for 63 bucks plus tax. I'm about to change my plugs as well with BKR6EQUP and found them here in a local shop for 8.75. LR Pasadena quoted me for $ 2,000 for 60k service and replacing the radiator hoses. Almost fell off my chair when SA gave me the quote but I said no thanks as I will be doing regular service myself. Changed oil last week, plugs today and lower and upper hose next week.

I must apologize and belay my last about the part number from my BMW air filter. While it's the part # factory stamped on the filter (preceded with "BMW"), apparently it's not available by that number. I checked the dealership today & searched the web, but could find no results for that part number.
