sorry if this is a naive question - but here goes. i really like the look of the stormers that come on some of the RRS models - unfortunately my 2010 didn't come with them - while i also like the wheels that came with mine, i am considering swapping them out. might wait until i need some new rubber to do it, might wait till i bruise the current ones a bit, but will most likely do it someday soon. so, here's the question - i assume all of the "inexpensive" ones i see out there on ebay are replicas? are there any other sources besides land rover to buy the real stormers? i see some places have some chromed out versions which i don't love. i've searched around, but it seems to me that LR is the sole proprietor of that wheel if i want new ones? maybe i'm missing something - anyway - thanks in advance for your help - current wheel size is 20"

I don't think there is any problem going with a replica. I have bought many different replicas for different vehicles over the years - just go to a trusted seller. They all have to conform to DOT standards so they will be fine. I will be ordering a set of 4 come the spring since two of mine were refinished and the other two have a few nicks (previous owner!) and it drives me nuts that all 4 aren't pristine or 100% uniform (it's NOT that hard to avoid curbs people). They're like $695 shipped for 20's - can't beat that.

The only reason to get the Stormers from LR is if you have $2k + burning a hole in your pocket.

Leo is correct.

I too have seen several no name brand Chinese made 'saucepan factory' rip off wheels similar to the Stormers with fracturing !

The wheel load rating is important and even better, try to pick up a set of forged alloy rims which are both lower in weight & stronger than the normal run of the mill alloys so your combined package is similar to stock so your suspension is not strained ?

As they say, "You buy peanuts - you get monkeys" and remember a RRS is a 5000+ pounds expensive bit of kit with free styling.

I've never seen a stormer replica crack. I had the 22" replicas for a while with no issues, and I didn't baby them.

Doubt there is any difference between 50/53 offset.

Forged wheels are not stronger than cast wheels because they're paired down to save weight. I've seen more dented HRE's than cracked chinese replicas.
