Does anyone on the forum know the type and size of the bolts used to connect the upper tailgate to the hinges on my 88 RRC. I had to drill out a couple of the bolts and I need to source some replacements.

thanks

Don't know the size, but you can find the part number here. Apparently there are different part numbers, depending on your VIN for 86-92.

the difference in those bolts, is not the thread but rather the drive head, earlier models were philips heads, later models became torx drive heads. ab and r n have the originals, any hardware store will have counter sink screws. if you don't care about originality, any 8mm by 1.25 will do.

For those who cannot wait for PB blaster to kick in (like myself) mix up some 1/2 ATF and 1/2 Acetone Nail Polish Remover (steal from wife) and apply liberally. This stuff WORKS. Any nasty bolt give it some homemade PB... soak for best results...
