99 Stock Alpine Ipod - MP3 - RCA Inputs - Modification Using Tape Mode

For anyone who would like to do the tape mod on later units.

The connector on the bottom left counting from the left.
#3 Ground
#4 Left+
#5 Right+

Soldered cable , routed out the back and connected to a bluetooth aux input adapter.

Now have handsfree and bluetooth streaming.

a bit more info would be nice....... and more pics

-how do you select the input source ? if there's no tape in the deck, it won't select tape (mine doesn't )
and if you put a tape in it will play that as well....
-can you explain the handsfree part? i expect it will only work if the line in is selected as input source? and how about the microphone? or is that bluetooththing you use actualy a bt carkit with a line out output?

am curious

This mod actually isn't new, it is just shown on the Alpine deck instead of the Clarion deck. The input line you are adding can be used for any input hardware you like. This just allows you to keep your CD instead of using the CD line for input. To select the input you do indeed use a cassette only without the tape. In other words you remove the tape from a cassette... or use an old cleaning cartridge.

Yes it is not new. In looking for a solution I found this post.

There was no info on the Alpine unit that i could find. I found the pinouts on a BMW site for a radio that is different but uses the same cassete assembly.

You can follow these directions and pictures, just use the pins i described above.

For the bluetooth adapter i used is this one

Mpow Streambot one

Works with Siri.

I used a cassette adapter with the wire and head taken out.

Poke the tape carriage with your finger until it pops down as though it had a tape in it. This works with the Clarion deck, at least.
