Hello everyone.. I am new to the RR world and recently obtained one with pretty decent miles... As the title states, it is a 97 in pretty good condition.. I recently noticed a few things and was hoping I can get some direction to help tackle the issues. They are the following:

- ABS light is on when I first turn on the RR. Once I begin to drive it goes away. (I have read this is typical and nothing to worry about).

- I didn't realize the check engine light doesn't go on when you put the key into ACC. I immediately took it to an Autozone to read the codes and it only came up with a P3999 code and after some research the code seems to be a ghost code.

- I get an alarm fault code.

- I also get a whine noise from the drivers side in the engine bay compartment every now and again..

- Unfortunately :crybaby2: (due to not having the ability to raise and lower the truck) and fortunately :D (due to the costs involved on repairing) the EAS system was removed and the coil spring setup was installed by a LR/RR dealer. However it sits a bit to high and I would like to lower it about an 1inch all around as well as install a better offset rim. Any direction would be greatful. I know it wont be a sports car but I think it would benefit my spirited driving. The RR will not see any off-roading.. I live in NYC.

- a clip on the sunroof broke during pre-purchase and searched and found the piece for about $7 bucks. I take it this might be the cheapest part for the RR..

- I would like to know if any parts from the 4.6 are interchangeable with the 4.0? I am asking because I was thinking could the 4.6 transmission be mated with the 4.0 block?

I only had the truck for about a week and enjoy it so far. I am taking it to a reputable shop in Queens to have it looked over (yea yea, I should've done it before the purchase I know, but for the price and the mileage and condition, I couldn't turn it down)..

I appreciate it folks..

welcome Jae, i'm in Josie just over the GWB

got 3 dash bulbs for free from the stealer one time, i think the parts guy was too lazy to write it up

download RAVE, it's a PDF service manual, you should be able to find it online for free, there was something about the 4.6 tranny being slightly longer than the 4.0, dunno what that means, also, the early gems motors and later bosche motors dont share many parts

As far as lowering the suspension goes, don't let anyone do this by simply cutting a wrap or two off the end of your coil springs and saying ( I've done this before and it works fine). Take it to a shop that can heat shrink and re-temper the springs in a proper oven so they are all the same at the end and you wont run into cracking and uneven springs on your rig. Any suspension shop that refurbishs coil or leaf springs will do and if you can take them out and refit them yourself it should be pretty cheap. :thumb:

good idea.. I was actually considering taking measurements of the current springs the truck sits on and ordering custom springs that will be about an 1" shorter then its current height. Or I may just decide to install the EAS system into the RR...
