I'm in the midst of replacing the rusty mess that is the glass tailgate frame on my 92 Classic with the Masai kit. I also purchased a new handle since mine was missing. So far so good but...

I can't figure out how the pin in the middle of the handle interacts with the center of the rod mechanism to initiate the unlocking of the side catches.

The handle pin barely pokes through the frame and doesn't seem to do much when I turn the key (?)

Do I need to reconnect something else? I'm going to take more pics tomorrow and upload them to demonstrate what I'm saying.

This pic is of the center of the rod mechanism.

IIRC, the key just prevents you from pushing in the button, it doesn't do anything to latch/unlatch the sides. Pushing on the button pulls (or pushes?) the rods out and that's what unlatches the sides, when locked you can't push in the button, so it doesn't unlatch.
