4.4 Ignition Coil Failures

Two weeks ago my 2003 4.4 L322 developed a misfire with the engine light flashing. I read the codes and the fault was cylinder 8 misfire. I then cleared the codes and swapped the coil to cylinder 5, restarted the car and then the fault showed misfire on cylinder 5. I bought a new coil and swapped it with 5 and all was well.

Today I got another misfire, the code again shows it is a misfire on cylinder 8. Again I swapped the coil with cylinder 6 and sure enough the misfire moved to cylinder 6.

Is this just a coincidence that two would fail so soon or is it a sign that something else is wrong? The car has 120,000 miles on it.

Sounds like something in the 8 hole is causing the coil-packs to go bad.......Maybe try one more new coil in the 8 hole and see what ya get. 2 is coincidence and 3 would be a pattern.
