I stumbled upon this message. I had a 2015 Range. i asked the dealer to disable the start stop mode after 2 weeks of ownership. The tech climbed into the rear hatch area and disabled something. Now, I took delivery of a 2020 Range 3 weeks ago. Dealer disabled for me. I watched the tech and it took a whole 5 min to disable. I think in my opinion, it’s a great idea to have this start stop function. But it’s not perfected in the Range. For me it was a safety hazard. With the 2015 RR, After a few weeks of ownership, I was sitting at a light when a vehicle in oncoming traffic swerved towards my direction. I slammed on the gas and there was a slight hesitation in engine response. Luckily, the vehicle just missed me. I had a 510 HP engine. I needed instant reaction. In my case the auto stop function left me feeling insecure. Hence I had it disabled. Just my feeling
