sounds like the chains, tensioners and guides if you swap out the parts also include the 4 VVT units

What makes you say that? The tapping is a very different tone than others I've heard. If I read you correctly, this sounds like an immediately urgent issue. However, I am not throwing a Check Engine light.

It kind of sounds like a bad water pump, they last 40ish thousand miles.. timing guides don’t always through a code

can't edit post, disconnect the main belt and listen for change, I'll cross my fingers that it is only a pump and not a $5000 job....

and throw not through....thank you Apple haha

Thank you. Any guidance (or a link) on how to disconnect that main belt? Are you talking about the main serpentine belt that would run the alternator, AC, SC?
